Thames Aerial Imagery at Fiddler's Reach
Specialist over-water thames aerial imagery at Fiddler's Reach for marine engineering, logistics, and creative media.
Recent Work
Selected work from across London and the Thames.
UAS London covers Fiddler's Reach as part of our tidal Thames operating area. Our pilots hold marine radio and work directly alongside skippers during the flight. The river rewards crews who know it; a stranger to this water loses the shot to the tide.
We identify launch and recovery points at Fiddler's Reach that work at the state of tide on the day. Output can be broadcast-ready ProRes, high-bitrate RAW, or georeferenced survey data. We can work outside normal hours where river traffic or light demands it.
We notify the PLA and maintain contact with London VTS throughout operations at Fiddler's Reach. We carry £10M public liability insurance written to cover over-water operations. If wind or river conditions turn on the day, the pilot's call is final.
Where the tide window is tight, we plan the shot list so nothing depends on a second visit. Share the brief and we will confirm crew availability against the tide table the same day. The quickest route is a short email with the location, the subject and the deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you fly at night or in low light on the river?
Yes. Night and blue-hour work over the Thames is something we do regularly, with the lighting conditions and additional risk factored into the plan. Twilight often gives the strongest results on the tideway.
Do you need Port of London Authority approval to fly at Fiddler's Reach?
Any professional drone operation on the tidal Thames, including Fiddler's Reach, requires notification to and coordination with the PLA and London VTS. UAS London manages those clearances as part of the service.
Can you launch drones directly from boats at Fiddler's Reach?
Yes. Through our partnership with Cinecraft we have access to MCA-coded workboats and support vessels, and our pilots are experienced in launching and recovering from a moving deck.
