Aerial Filming of Activations on the Tideway

A floating activation is an awkward aerial subject, and the reasons are not obvious until you are on the job. The target moves continuously with the tide. The backdrop changes every few hundred metres, so the London that ends up behind your product is decided by where the aircraft is when the vessel arrives rather than by anything written on the schedule. The light window that makes the shot work is narrow and rarely coincides with office hours. UAS London films activations, stunts and launches on the tidal Thames. We coordinate with the marine crews running the job, work from the vessel's intended route and the times it expects to reach each landmark on it, and position accordingly, either from the vessel or from the bank. Where a campaign needs a specific backdrop, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf or the O2, that decides the launch position, so it is worth saying at the planning stage rather than on the day. We photographed the Mutiny activation on 31 July 2026, twice in one day and in two completely different lights. Nobody commissioned it. It sits in the portfolio because being in the right position when something worth photographing comes down the river is the part of this work a brief cannot buy. We film the activation. The vessel, the tow and the activation's own permissions stay with the operators running them. Our Thames drone team is made up of experienced river skippers and drone pilots who work on the tidal Thames day in, day out. We understand vessel operations, maritime civil works and PLA requirements, so every flight is planned around real-world river conditions, not just airspace on a map.
