Thames Drone Filming at Bugsby's Reach
Specialist over-water thames drone filming at Bugsby's Reach for marine engineering, logistics, and creative media.
Recent Work
Selected work from across London and the Thames.
Operations at Bugsby's Reach draw on both our aviation and our marine experience. Clients here include TV productions, marine contractors, port operators and engineering teams. Early starts are normal here, because the best water and the best light rarely coincide with office hours.
Magnetic interference near steel structures at Bugsby's Reach is factored into the flight plan. We fly marine-configured aircraft rated for the wind speeds the river corridor regularly produces. A contingency window is built in wherever the shot depends on conditions.
Coordination with the Port of London Authority is standard on every flight at Bugsby's Reach. Crews are water-safety trained as well as CAA-licensed. Moorings, houseboats and riverside residents are given notice where the operation warrants it.
We retain the raw river capture in case you need to return to it later. We can assess the Bugsby's Reach site before you book if the feasibility is not obvious. There is no obligation attached to an enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with the vessel operator directly?
Yes, and it makes a noticeable difference to the result. Given the skipper's contact we coordinate the passage and the shot list directly, so the vessel is where the camera needs it rather than the other way round.
Are you insured for flying over water?
Yes. We carry £10M public liability insurance written to cover over-water operations, and can provide the certificate along with our CAA authorisation and a job-specific risk assessment before booking.
Do you need Port of London Authority approval to fly at Bugsby's Reach?
Any professional drone operation on the tidal Thames, including Bugsby's Reach, requires notification to and coordination with the PLA and London VTS. UAS London manages those clearances as part of the service.
