Mutiny: Jason Statham Brand Activation on the Thames

Aerial photography of a floating brand activation for the Lionsgate action thriller Mutiny — a giant inflatable Jason Statham towed through central London by the multicat Emilia D.
On 31 July 2026, a 20-foot shipping container painted in the livery of the Lionsgate action thriller Mutiny was towed through central London on a flat-top pontoon, with a giant inflatable of Jason Statham seated on top of it. UAS London photographed the run from the air. The tow was handled by the Emilia D, a Damen multicat operated by Thamescraft Dry Docking Services from Bay Wharf on the Greenwich Peninsula — a working boat that ordinarily spends its time on marine civil engineering rather than film marketing. We covered two runs. The first, mid-morning on a falling tide, took the tow up Greenwich Reach past Island Gardens with Canary Wharf standing behind it. The second, in the low evening light, followed the tow around the Greenwich Peninsula through Bugsby's Reach, past Morden Wharf with the O2 on the skyline. A floating activation is an unusually demanding aerial subject. The target moves continuously with the tide, the backdrop changes every few hundred metres, and the light window that makes the shot work is narrow. The whole point of the exercise is a photograph that reads instantly on a phone screen, which means the container's branding has to be legible, the inflatable has to be cleanly separated from the background, and a recognisable piece of London has to sit behind it. Getting all three in the same frame is a matter of choosing the position in advance and being there as the tow arrives, not of chasing it. Nobody commissioned this one. It sits in the portfolio because it demonstrates the thing a brief cannot buy: knowing the tideway well enough to be in the right position when something worth photographing comes down it — twice in one day, in two different lights. We flew under the permissions required for central London airspace and stayed well clear of the tow and its attending safety boat throughout.
